Subaru cars are famous for making a very specific rumble or boxer noise. It's due to an UNequal length exhaust manifold or header if you like. Recent Subaru vehicles mainly utilise an equal length, 4-2-1 exhaust manifolds to maximise the engine performance, which means that the "boxer sound" is now disappearing.
