Toyota GT86 Gets the Weds Maverick Treatment
When we imported this stunning Toyota GT86 from Japan for our E-Commerce Administrator, Rich Awty, it came with a whole host of modifications – a nearly complete catalogue of TRD parts. From the bumpers to the exhaust, this car was something special. However, there was one element that wasn’t quite living up to the rest of the build: the wheels.
The stock wheels, simply weren’t doing justice to the TRD parts that were installed on the car. That’s when we reached out to our friends at Weds Wheels, and they delivered exactly what we needed.
The Perfect Upgrade: Weds Maverick 905S
The solution came in the form of a set of Weds Maverick 905S wheels – a stunning 2-piece split rim design that perfectly balances form and function. The wheels feature a gunmetal grey face paired with polished lips, creating a finish that complements the GT86’s pearl white paintwork beautifully.
For the fitment, we opted for 18×8.5 ET42 all round, a specification that fills the arches perfectly while maintaining the car’s balanced stance. The result is a wheel setup that looks like it rolled straight out of a Japanese tuning magazine.
New Rubber
Of course, new wheels need new tyres, and we weren’t about to compromise on this crucial component. We called in a favour from our friends at Yokohama, who helped us out with a set of Advan Sport V107’s in 235/40/18.
The Advan Sport V107 is a high-performance road tyre that strikes the perfect balance for Rich’s requirements. These tyres offer excellent grip and handling characteristics for spirited road driving while providing the durability and performance needed for those upcoming track days.
