Introducing the NEW Zestek SCX Steering Wheel Hub!
As the European Distributor for Zestek Racing, we have been looking forward to the release of their SCX hub ever since we first heard about it at the end of 2025. Fast forwards a few months, and the final product is here and on our shelves. It’s absolutely jam packed with new features and is £250 cheaper than the outgoing OEM hub. Result!
What is the SCX steering wheel hub?
Before we start telling you about all the amazing new features, let’s explain what this product is and the problems it solves. If you are the lucky owner of a fairly new performance vehicle, chances are that there’s loads of controls and buttons on the OEM steering wheel. If you want to swap the OE wheel out for an aftermarket wheel then you’re going to lose all the functionality like the ability to control audio, cruise control and on BMW’s, the all important M button.
The SCX enables you to install an aftermarket steering wheel whilst retaining all of these controls, programming them to whichever button takes your fancy and illuminating it in a choice of over 16 million RGB colours. There’s also a load more features now thanks to the SCX, so let’s dive right in and have a look at them.
What’s new?
The first that you’ll notice is the hybrid carbon fibre composite that’s crafted with a groundbreaking material formula that’s stronger, more durable and inherently flame-retardant.
The buttons have been re-designed after feedback from the OEM hub where some users fed back that they struggled to tell if they’d actually pressed it. After dozens of prototypes, there’s now a multi-stage tactile button with 2.25mm of travel that provides the most precise and satisfying feeling when pressed, especially useful for those that will be wearing racing gloves.
One thing that makes the Zestek hub so great is the paddles. These have been re-designed to achieve the most optimal actuation feel and travel. There’s also now 15 degrees of adjustability so you can fine-tune them to your exact liking. For those manual drivers, you can program the paddles to whichever function you want. In our Civic FL5 we programmed these to the horn, which was pretty amusing!
One of the main features, and arguably the most exciting, is the addition of the new shift lights which can be set at multiple stages throughout the rev range. These can be programmed to function in a number of ways, (sequential, all-lit, or converging) easily in the new Zestek configurator.
Another great feature is the addition of the smart lights, which feature 4 or 8 different stages depending on how you choose to set them up. These act as a virtual dashboard that visualise live vehicle data directly from the OBD module so you can easily see parameters like coolant, oil, or intake temperatures. This is an absolute game changer when using your car on the track!
The all-new Velolink system is a powerful ecosystem thats is an innovative seamless wireless technology developed exclusively by Zestek. This empowers you to achieve anything you can think of and will support up to 6 wireless expansion modules with auto-pairing so no manual setup will be needed. Included in the box is a OBDII module which can access any data and support firmware updates.
There’ll be a BCM and LCM module that will be released later in the year and these will support dozens of functions that can be controlled directly from the hub.
How easy is it to install?
Installation is straight forward, especially when using our handy how-to guide. To give an example, we installed a Zestek SCX hub onto a F87 BMW M2 in just 45 minutes. The actual configuration of the buttons will take a while longer as there’s so many different options to choose from, and chances are you’ll change these as you begin to use your new setup. However, the new Zestek work station is so easy to use. We suggest sitting in the car with your laptop and the wheel in front of you. Programming the buttons is live, so there’s no waiting for your setup to sync or anything like that.
